Tanya Curtis the owner, founder and director of Fabic Behaviour Specialist Centre

Tanya founded FABIC (Functional Assessment & Behaviour Interventions Clinic) in 2006 as she saw the need for services that offer a deeper level of understanding together with practical tools to support people who find navigating day-to-day life difficult and stressful, if not seemingly impossible.

Today FABIC has expanded from a one-person small business into a multi-disciplinary Behaviour Specialist Centre, offering a wide range of services including Psychology, Behaviour Specialist Services, Counselling, Occupational Therapy and Speech Pathology.

Additionally, FABIC offers:

  • an extensive range of workshops, both nationally and internationally

  • training programs

  • a practical product range of supportive tools for everyday life

  • a wide range of assessments i.e., behavioural, psychological, communication, motor skills, sensory processing, occupational, intellectual/cognitive and academic

FABIC is an NDIS approved provider and supports children, teenagers and adults to understand and respond to the challenging situations they face in life, whether they be related to general non-preferred or unwanted behaviour, managing daily life and/or issues caused by an ailment, weakness or condition (a diffability in Tanya's words = a different ability).

Simply put, FABIC services support people from all walks of life and various backgrounds to reach and live their full potential!

Tanya has closely observed the dis-order that humanity is in and recognised that behavioural and mental health issues are increasing in severity and frequency. Even though we have more highly trained and dedicated psychiatrists, psychologists and mental health professionals than ever before, the psychological wellbeing of societies everywhere has never been this low in recorded history. This is evident when one examines the escalating statistics of behavioural issues in educational, correctional, disability, mental health and drug and alcohol rehabilitation facilities.

In response to these worsening conditions, Tanya has developed a unique and simplified methodology based on the evidence-based practice of Functional Behaviour Assessment that allows people of all developmental, cognitive, emotional and social levels to apply it to their own life. When implemented by the client or their carer/s, the FABIC methodology is widely known to result in significant changes to the function and quality of a person’s life when all other interventions and attempts had previously failed.

The word FABIC stands for Functional Assessment and Behaviour Interventions Clinic.

FABIC is based on evidence-based Functional Behaviour Assessment and all FABIC clinicians specialise in ‘Understanding and Changing Behaviour’
