As part of Fabic Publishing, Tanya introduced the Sunlight Ink Children series, books for children and adults alike that were authored and illustrated by her and Désirée Delaloye. 

 
Through Tanya’s clinical experience she has come to realise that people’s poor psychological well-being has a lot to do with living in reaction to the world rather than living from the natural and innate amazing beauty that is inside us all. And the key to supporting people to live from their amazingness rather than from their reactions is in supporting them to let go of striving to be perfect.

In 2014 Sunlight Ink published their first book, I am Beauty-full Just for Being Me, written by Tanya Curtis and illustrated by Desiree Delaloye.

 

Tanya had already written a book to address the ‘perfection constructs’ that bind us. Aptly titled Whoops! … is One of my Favourite Words it is a message that people of all ages will benefit and draw inspiration from.

 

As Tanya shares:
 

"Because of the issues that humanity is facing on a daily basis, I have been left to question why and looked at ways to prevent these issues in the first place. The books that I write with Sunlight Ink Children’s Series are designed to make my job at Fabic redundant – if we support people to have these messages from early on, then they are less likely to experience the anxiety and psychological and behavioural issues that these days so many people accept as part of life and a normal way of living.”

Making mistakes, being corrected, being told you’re wrong, losing … these are common triggers for increased anxiety and unwanted behaviour. Why? Simply because we forget we are ‘human beings’ and not ‘human doings’ – we think we are worthy based on what we ‘do’ and feel bad when what we ‘do’ is criticised or corrected.

 

The messages in this book share with children of all ages (0 to 100+) that we are all already perfect just for being us. We learn that what we do will sometimes be perfect and sometimes not – and that every mistake we make is simply a learning opportunity! Our doing might not always be perfect, but OUR BEING WILL ALWAYS BE PERFECT.
